Lo stato dell'arte sulle ricerche e la sperimentazione per ridurre i rischi e gli impatti drammatici dei mutamenti climatici in ambito urbano.
Le città stanno cambiando per il clima che cambia. Analisi e ricerche descrivono con sempre maggiori dettagli le modifiche avvenute negli ecosistemi, mentre l’aumento dei fenomeni meteorologici estremi sta diventando una costante in ogni parte del Pianeta con impatti sociali che, proprio nelle aree urbane, determinano conseguenze spesso drammatiche. Come si devono preparare le città per ridurre rischi e impatti? La conferenza di Venezia ha come obiettivo fare il punto sulla ricerca e le sperimentazione a livello internazionale sul tema dell’adattamento ai cambiamenti climatici. Capire il modo con cui guardare ai territori dentro una prospettiva di global warming, e dunque quali apparati conoscitivi, approcci progettuali e nuove politiche di pianificazione e di intervento occorre predisporre.

The participation of the European Commission - Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the European Cruise Council, together with local and international maritime operators, reflects the importance of the event.The conference reaffirms the centrality of the Mediterranean Sea and its port-cities in driving economic recovery after the downturn and stresses the need of concrete strategies for the reduction of emissions and to increase the energy efficiency in port areas.
The conference will be held at the Palazzo Grandi Stazioni, Fondamenta S.Lucia, 23, in Venice (IT) from9:30 am.

The Intensive Programme takes place from July 11th to July 23rd 2011, in Sardinia.
The activities are partly “itinerant”. It will take place in different sites during thedifferent days:

AIMS
Only recently the need to adapt to a changing climate has been recognized as an essential, element in local responses, due also to the time lag between stabilizing emissions and the immediate impacts of changes already taking place in terms of climate variability and change.
The workshop has as its main aim to analyze, discuss and generate debate on the key issues affecting cities under climate variability and change, and opportunities for designing city climate action plans policies., Issues that will be covered in the workshop are e.g. how collective action at international level is translated at the local level, the role of local communities in a process of climate change adaptation, the integration of mitigation and adaptation levels at city level, the role of land use planning and cities as large actors in the relevant catchment, sustainable construction and urban planning, and mediation processes between different stakeholders to achieve a common goal, among others,
